8 Tips for a Better Life | Dr. Renee, “The Doctor Of Feng Shui” November 25, 2008

Have you ever walked into a house that felt like home or reminisced about the best year of your life, and wondered why everything came together for you? It could be good Feng Shui in your environment.

Feng Shui is all about creating a harmonious environment. Its the ancient Chinese Science and Art of placement, intended to improve our health, harmony, longevity, career and wealth.

Pronounced, ‘Fung Shway’, it was a jealously guarded secret for thousands of years. Now, the benefits of Feng Shui can be enjoyed by anyone. In fact, Feng Shui is a part of everyday life for many Australian businesses, home owners, decorators, and architects.

The key is energy (or Qi, pronounced Chee). Here are ten quick tips that can improve the flow, transformation, and containment of Qi in your life:

1) Remove shoes before entering a home. (Don’t take your problems in with you.)

2) Cook at least one meal a day and eat at the table as a family.  (Raises the energy in your home)

3) Never have knives on show even in a block. (Puts you and your guests on the defense)

4) Always sit or stand facing the door (or its reflection). (Puts you in the command position)

5) Keep the toilet lid down and bathroom and laundry doors closed. (Keep valuable Chi from going down the drain)

6) Don’t sleep with your feet facing the bedroom door. (This is the morgue position)

7) Don’t sleep next to the wall that has the meter box on it. (Too much energy for a peaceful nights rest)

8) Do not live in a home with a tree or the door of the house opposite. (represents blocked opportunities)

Home Office Feng Shui | Dr. Renee “The Doctor Of Feng Shui” November 25, 2008

Whether you believe in the powers of feng shui or not, there are an increasingly large number of people who do. Either way, it’s fun to examine different ideas, so let’s take a look at your home office from the feng shui point of view.

Business people in Asia have considered work place feng shui to be a crucial contributor to personal and business success for centuries. Anything that has lasted for centuries is worth a closer look to see if any part of the concept will work for you. In this article we will ignore corporate business office feng shui, and focus on home office adaptations.

Have a separate outside entrance to your office if possible. If you can not, then choose a room that is near the front or back door of the house or apartment. Separate your home office from the rest of the living area in order to keep your business and personal lives separate. If your home office is part of a larger room, then partition it off with bookcases, screens, or large plants.

Never have your back to the window. Having your back to a door symbolically leaves you open to attack. If you directly face a door you may be overpowered by the incoming Chi. The best position is with your back to a wall.  The next best position is angled away from a doorway.

Flat ceilings are best for promoting the flow of Chi. If you have a sloped ceiling, cathedral ceiling, or exposed beams then you can bamboo flutes to offset the negative effects.

If you have views of harmful elements from your window, you can negate them by the strategic placement of wind chimes or plants. Bamboo plants symbolize good fortune and are ideal for placement in the home office. Cactus or any sharp leaved plants are good feng shui in this area as they are believed to deter harmful influences.

Consider taking a short walk before entering your office to work each day and another one at the end of your working day as another measure of separating your business life from your personal life.  To allow energy to flow through the room, leave at least 7-9 inches of space between each piece of office furniture..

Keep your workspace clean and clutter-free in order to allow a free flow of feng shui energy throughout the room. There is a difference between clutter and stored items. Stored items should, however, be filed away or stored neatly in a cabinet or closet to allow the flow of feng shui energy.

Fend Shui Benefits

Feng shui is said to make you more aware of how your environment affects your state of mind. Even if you don’t subscribe to the ancient Oriental ways, you have to admit that an uncluttered office, with room to move around, and pleasant decorations is much better than a cluttered dungeon that’s stuffed to the ceiling with piles of paper.

Also, feng shui helps you to stay focused by forcing you to store incomplete and future projects in a storage area so you won’t be distracted by worrying over them every day. Feng shui experts claim that you will receive these additional benefits as well:

* Increase your prosperity & abundance.

* Boost your health.

* Reduce insomnia & stress.

* Enhance your personal power.

* Easing of family conflicts.

* Increase your concentration

* Enhance financial security.

* Attract new customers to your business.

* Upgrade your life in many other ways

Visualization Therapy: Seeing Your Dreams Come To Life September 15, 2008

Visualization therapy mainly involves focusing your mind on what you like to happen and believing that these images are real to your body.

Visualization therapy is very precise and detailed. You can imagine how something smells, feels, sounds and tastes.

Your imagination need to appear so genuine that it can keep your mind into the thoughts that it is a truth. Most of the clinics in US use this therapy to help you to control the pain associated with any ailments or diseases.

When compared to adults, children can easily learn visualization. It is supposed that this is because children have not crossed into the black and white absolutes of adults.

Numerous cases were proved that visualization therapy helped people to fight against various illnesses and to lead normal lives. Most of the complementary health care centers use traditional therapy along with visualization to help you to lessen the activity and reduce further spread of a seizure.

Benefits of visualization therapy:

  • This therapy greatly helps in coping with various activities that you have become very much addictive. It completely changes the way that you think. You will no longer observe yourself in terms of drink or drug use.
  • The therapy helps to alter the mental picture of yourself and in doing so it changes your reality. This is a method of getting and altering the underlying pictures.
  • This therapy is a form of meditation [meditation technique] or self-hypnosis that you can utilize to help with mental, physical and emotional health by visualizing positive and desired outcomes to precise situations.
  • This therapy helps to desensitize the triggers for cravings and help to endure cravings.
  • Visualization greatly helps in personal growth, constructs your clean self and manages the underlying emotional distress, depression and trauma.
  • Visualization therapy promotes activity in the correct side of your brain, which is then linked to emotions and creativity.
  • Gradually, visualization changes your brain wave patterns, increases the flow of low frequency, calms the alpha brain waves and encourages the production of neurochemicals like dopamine that are depleted with the use of cocaine, thus making you feel good.
  • The therapy is commonly used by sports people to create ultimate performance.
  • Visualization can also be used along with the conventional medicines while treating the cancer and also it helps in strengthening your immune system.
  • Visualization therapy acts as an effective tool in stress management.

Visualization is mainly intended to use the right creativity side to help in restoring the balance. The correct part of your brain completely allows what you like to achieve without giving belief and works upon it without judgment.

If you want to use visualization therapy on your own, then you can use intention. Remember that your intention should be specific, perfect and attainable and most of you need to trust and think that it is being accomplished.

Feng Shui Elements – Supporting Harmony In Your Home September 15, 2008

Every object or element present in the space has its own specific energy that it spreads out to everyone and everything else in its proximity.

One of the easy ways to find your life leading with the help of feng shui is to get the power of particular feng shui colors to attain the preferred results. Color is the most powerful, as it is light.

The fundamental belief of feng shui is the principle of five elements.

The five feng shui elements include: wood, earth, fire, water and metal.

These five feng shui elements relate with each other in certain means, usually described as the productive and destructive cycles.

Each one of the feng shui elements is defined with a precise color and the color is the simplest method to utilize the five feng shui elements in order to get more harmony into your space.

Color association of all of the five feng shui elements:

  • Wood: Brown, green
  • Earth: Light brown, light yellow
  • Fire: Purple, orange, red and strong yellow
  • Water: Blue and black
  • Metal: Gray and white

It is very hard to know the usage of color in order to support and balance your environment with the help of compound feng shui objects.

But don’t worry about it, there are always basics defined to it. You will come to know everything with the help of feng shui energy map and clear about the right placement of the feng shui colors.

For instance, the energy related to south feng shui region is associated with your recognition and fame. For this, the better transformation is the fire or light within.

This is linked to the representation that your plan to other people, your individuality in others’ eyes and also how strong or good you are at distributing and sustaining your own identity, values or light.

For south region, the feng shui element is fire and the colors corresponding to it include: orange, red, purple and yellow. Don’t consider black or blue colors for south feng shui region.

  • Green color is an excellent or a healing choice to improve your overall health and balances your family life when it is used in the east feng shui region.
  • Blue color is a good choice for north feng shui region. This color supports and helps you in your career plans. For east region, it provides health and family wellbeing and for southeast, it provides abundance and prosperity.
  • Yellow color in the south region gives good times and happy gatherings.
  • Pure white color in the west region supports you in your imaginative endeavors.

So, when you plan to bring the colors to your environment as feng shui therapy, make sure that you study the light patterns throughout the day in your space and also observe how the color works with other people in your family. Also, the color should match with your decor objects, furniture pieces, arts, etc.

Creating A Feng Shui “Notebook” September 12, 2008

Bagua

Bagua

Most Feng Shui books and classes tell you to start your own Feng Shui notebook, but they never explain exactly how to go about it. Finally, I can lay out a good start for you here.

My recommendation is to get a smaller-sized loose-leaf notebook (also called small format). The one I use is about 9″ x 8″ (or European size 23 cm x 21 cm). I use several different colors of paper.

Start by adding a title to your first page, Intentions for This Year. Next, divide the page into the nine Bagua squares. Add a label at the top of each square, indicating the name of that square–for example, Heath and Well-Being, or Career. Spend a few minutes jotting down any goals for the year that you may have, as they fit into bagua squares. It’s OK if you don’t have goals in every square.

If you are unfamiliar with where to place the bagua squares, here is a guide (and don’t worry now about colors or elements):

Here are some personal examples. In my Love and Relationships square, my goals for this year are spending more time, and more fun time with my daughter, and finding the time to play long-distance chess with my brother who lives in another country. The goals I wrote in my Wealth and Prosperity corner include doing a better job of living within my means, and to get my financial papers in order. So take the time to enter some goals for yourself.

Next, make one page in your notebook for each room of your home. Don’t forget to make a page for the hallway, the garage, and each bathroom; as well as the utility room, if you have one. If you have already made your house plan, you can mark on the top of each page which bagua square(s) the room fits into. (If you haven’t yet made a house plan, then you can skip this step for now.) The reason for making a page for each room is that now you will have a place to start recording any changes you make.

We made some changes yesterday. An electrician came and installed a light in the downstairs bath, so I duly marked that on my Downstairs Bath page, along with the date it was done. He repaired some lights in various bedrooms, and I made notations on the appropriate Master Bedroom and Daughter’s Bedroom pages, along with the dates.

Having a notebook with recorded goals and changes will allow you to go back later to see if those changes were effective. If they are effective at moving you toward your goals you should notice a change within three to six weeks.

Feng Shui And The Beijing Olympics August 20, 2008

Beijing, 2008-Olympic Fever with a Twist of Feng Shui.

By: Fire Dragon

Beijing-The second largest city in China hosts the 2008 summer Olympic Games. Beijing literally means “northern capital”, in accordance with other cities named by the direction where they are located. The Beijing Olympic Stadium under construction, also known as the “Bird’s Nest,” is a feat of engineering developed by Heurzog and DeMeuron, two well-known Swiss architects. The structural elements support one another and converge into a grid-like formation; hence the name, the “The Bird’s Nest.” Seating capacity will be 79,574, yet for the Olympic Games, it will be in excess of 100,000.Feng shui (pronounced, fung shway); literally, means “wind water.”

Remarkably similar to Chinese Astrology, feng shui is part of an ancient Chinese philosophy of nature. Like Chinese Astrology, Feng shui relates to the five elements of nature (Wood-Fire-Earth-Metal-Water), and how living with rather than against nature benefits both humans and the environment. The feng shui chart applies to the elements as follows:

Water-all shades of blue (Knowledge {Wisdom, Education, and Self-Cultivation}) or black (Career {Life-Path, The Journey}).

Wood-all shades of green (Family {Community, Elders}).

Xing Fu 幸福: FENG SHUI AND THE BEIJING OLYMPICS.
