Dr. Renee’s Essence Photoshoot! August 29, 2008

-No.

Smiling On The Inside!

Gambling With a Catsuit!

Gambling With A Catsuit!

Recently, I got bitten by the “lets’s take pictures” bug, namely by my friend Tonika Garibaldi who is a brilliant photographer. I am also submitting these photos to Essence Magazine for a potential feature this fall (so lets keep our fingers crossed!) As a woman of my generation, I suddenly became a little uncomfortable about what I might see as a result of this photoshoot.

I have lectured hundreds (if not thousands) on the art of Feng Shui and suddenly I was having “stage fright” about the vessel that God has given me. Besides that, we as women tend to be very conscious of our bodies. I am arriving at a place of spiritual and mental clarity – yet how can this “body image thing” menace me, at this level of consciousness?

How exposed are you behind a lens?..such a scary thought for a quiet intellectual such as myself lol. What tales will my expressions tell? Will my clothing and domeanor illicit a consistent testimony to support my inner growth? Many times, when I tell my age, people are in utter disbelief, but true to life – we are always our own harshest critic!

Thankfully, I feel that I was spared the grief of a bad photoshoot. I’ve taken enough bad pictures to last a lifetime, and this has been a testament to the process that we all will experience as Spiritually attuned women. We are mothers, sisters, wives, warriors, businesspeople, and most importantly – we are MAGNIFICENT. Remember your beauty lies in your simplicity, BASK in the marvel of who you are!

Many of you know about my Metaphysical and Energetic Concordance that I’ve been writing for release in Winter 2008. From this experience, I definately need to consider the effects of body-image on women, and investigate further.

Take a moment to share your comments about a time when you were a little “camera shy”, let’s laugh together. Maybe even a time where you realized the consciousness and gravity of your physical being.

Michelle Obama’s Fashion Feng Shui August 26, 2008

Tangerine; doing the twist in a 60s throwback!

Tangerine; doing the twist in a 60s throwback!

Could your fashion taste increase your chances of political success? in Michelle Obama’s case, it would certainly be nice. Wife of presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama, Michelle Obama is making a reputation for herself as an all-American fashionista. Despite her reluctance to take center stage during her husband’s presidential campaign, Obama’s sense of taste in clothing has become undeniable to the stylish American ’shoperazzi’. “Height, brilliance, and class are the essence of Michelle Obama” remarked Baltimore area Feng Shui Consultant, Dr. Renee Parks who’s gone great lengths to analyze the color palette and Feng Shui of Michelle Obama’s campaign appearance wardrobe.

“The energy of our clothing (chi) greatly affects our thoughts and feelings. It also guides our interactions with other people. It is believed that your chi is partly determined by the clothes that you wear, particularly the material, color and pattern. What is believed to be good material consists of cotton, silk, linen, wool and leather. It is important that wool and leather not be restrictive to the body” says Parks.

The wife of presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain, Cindy McCain tends to flash a cadre of top-shelf digs, however fashion pundits have unfavorably documented McCain’s attempts to make her 71 year old husband appear younger by donning florescent red patent leather jackets, and hot-pink blouses on the campaign trail. Michelle Obama’s retro-Americana meets ’ 1983 Dynasty’ style is conversely grabbing the attention of everyone with eyes and a bug for fashion. The new ‘Michelle Obama Mania’ in terms of fashion is reminiscent of another young first lady, Jacqueline Kennedy, donning her classic ‘pillbox’ and long clutches of pearls, while being widely emulated by American women.

Recently Obama donned a black and white summer dress from White House/Black Market on a daytime broadcast of ‘The View’. Subsequently being dubbed the “Michelle Obama Dress” during the show, the dress has gone 6 months back-ordered. The $148 off-the-rack creation from designer Donna Ricco has become an overnight sensation, and has brought quite a stir within the realm of political punditry and blogotry.”Balance is the essence of Obama fashion, in Feng Shui white is represents Yang - poise and confidence, while black – Yin, is indicative of success, power, stability and protection” notes Parks.

During the nomination rally for Obama’s vice presidential nominee, Joe Biden, Michelle sported an echo of 1955’s ‘Grease’ during a rally in Springfield Illinois. A feminine ‘Picasso-like” floral with swaths of grape, wintergreen and lavendar splashed onto a 1-piece girlish knee-length dress with a slimming bodice and popped ‘Rizzo’ collar. As her outfit screamed for a trendy spiked heel, Obama has avoided them during events, presumably due to her impressive height (5′11), and the possibility of overshadowing her husband’s visual sense of authority. “In this dress, she is embracing more of an mental healing and calming of the mind. Mind you, this is after the great controversy surrounding a statement of hers. That shade of lavendar  is also indicative of a peaceful environment, in terms of Feng Shui meaning.” she says. ” She seems at ease, and less uptight than I’ve seen her recently.”

As the keynote speaker for the first day of the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Obama sported a feminine form fitting teal, one-pieced cardigan number, which tapered just above the knee. An open-toed baby doll heel gave her a slight arch, softened her stride and accentuated her height onstage. As her speech was perceived to be speaking directly to working class white voters, her clothing accentuated an innate sense of cool – and less a sense of red carpet (which is almost impossible for this Diva to contain!). It was so cool, that many women expressed their desire to find out more about her dress afterward on MSNBC. “Now this dress is completely about being reborn. Teal is a wood element color with a unique combination of adventure, exploration and rebirth. This may be a magnificent complement for the Obamas, whether they realize it or not” notes Parks.

As for future Michelle Obama fashion, Parks has a few suggestions. “Michelle probably has her choice of any fashion designer at this time, but I would love to see her wearing warmer hues during her appearances. Yellow, essentially represents warmth and motion, while gold lends itself to a sense of spiritual connection. Orange is the color of purpose and strong communication with the fellow man. These are the dynamics that the Obamas are seeking to culture and manifest in their campaign. I would suggest these shades on a generic level, but I would also love to see her wardrobe developed on a holistic level by her stylists.” notes Parks. “Instead of a la’carte random designs, Michelle should a develop a cohesive collection that embodies and supports her spirit, and the spirit of the American woman.” she says.

Feng Shui And The Beijing Olympics August 20, 2008

Beijing, 2008-Olympic Fever with a Twist of Feng Shui.

By: Fire Dragon

Beijing-The second largest city in China hosts the 2008 summer Olympic Games. Beijing literally means “northern capital”, in accordance with other cities named by the direction where they are located. The Beijing Olympic Stadium under construction, also known as the “Bird’s Nest,” is a feat of engineering developed by Heurzog and DeMeuron, two well-known Swiss architects. The structural elements support one another and converge into a grid-like formation; hence the name, the “The Bird’s Nest.” Seating capacity will be 79,574, yet for the Olympic Games, it will be in excess of 100,000.Feng shui (pronounced, fung shway); literally, means “wind water.”

Remarkably similar to Chinese Astrology, feng shui is part of an ancient Chinese philosophy of nature. Like Chinese Astrology, Feng shui relates to the five elements of nature (Wood-Fire-Earth-Metal-Water), and how living with rather than against nature benefits both humans and the environment. The feng shui chart applies to the elements as follows:

Water-all shades of blue (Knowledge {Wisdom, Education, and Self-Cultivation}) or black (Career {Life-Path, The Journey}).

Wood-all shades of green (Family {Community, Elders}).

Moscow News – Russian Feng Shui Craze! August 20, 2008

If, like many Muscovites today, you are renovating your apartment, you might choose to avoid sharp corners and consider the “flow of energy” when selecting and arranging the furniture. And if you are one of the growing number building a new living space outside the city, you might even choose the location not for its price or beauty, but according to the mandates of an ancient Chinese practice.

This is because feng shui, the ancient Chinese art of harmonious arrangements, is growing in popularity in Russia. Widely touted over the past decade as the latest craze in Western interior decorating, while some Eastern countries employ feng-shui specialists for almost every building or design project, feng shui arrived a bit later to Moscow, but its principles are now becoming in the capital more than just a superstitious fad.

“It’s people of all types who hire a consultant. Mostly women,” Tatyana Shumilina, a Moscow feng-shui consultant, told The Moscow News.

Feng shui, which literally means “wind-water,” is the ancient Chinese practice of arranging a person’s environment in accordance with what are viewed as laws of the heaven and Earth. Proponents of the practice believe it can bring harmony to all spheres of a person’s life: improve one’s health, increase one’s material provisions an

Is Your Home Making You Sick? August 20, 2008

By: Dr. Renee Parks

Are you tired of feeling sick?  Do you want to feel more vitality?  Is
your home negatively impacting you and you don?t even know it?
Studies show that your home could be the major contributing factor of
ill health.  Our homes are full of electrical wires, power sockets,
switches, electromagnetic disturbances, sewage pipes and heating
systems that cause stress to our body.

All of these unnatural and harmful rays penetrate our body aura
(energy field) when we are in our home or workplace.  They are like a
large net covering our house, blocking and distorting the natural
universal energy.  The unnatural environment we spend time in has
created extremely stressful conditions for our body, affecting our
emotional behavior, our psyche, our brain patterns and our health.
Negative energy from our surroundings may adversely affect a
Practitioners ability to treat their clients properly.

If you have a chronic illness or just want to feel more vitality, this
consultation is for you.  Geobiology is a study of the influence of
“earth energies” on all forms of life. There is naturally occurring
Geopathic stress that is caused by underground waterways, or natural
gases in the Earth. The ancients observed the landscape and avoided
these areas of stress.

It is clear that there are a lot of cross-links between Geopathic
Stress and Feng Shui.  Both disciplines are concerned with the
influence of the environment on people and the energy of spaces.
However, correcting the flow of chi does not automatically correct the
earth?s negative energy forces.

The effect of the lines of stress can include illness, unhappy
relationships, financial stress and low energy level. Illnesses, in
particular, are associated with these areas. Cardiovascular
deficiency, attention deficit disorder, immune deficiency diseases,
chronic fatigue, and cancer are examples of the effects of living in
chronically stressed areas.

The Immunization Housecall provides a deeper diagnosis for healing
your environment and remedying, enhancing, balancing, and harmonizing
your space to the highest degree possible.  Once this negative energy
is neutralized, there will be an immediate difference in your
surroundings. You can easily perceive the difference. Feng Shui can
help to cure your illness and help you feel better.

Just as we can immunize our bodies against disease, we can immunize
our bodies from the harmful effects of the subtle energy (low level
radiation) in our environment.  This is simply done by locating
negative energy lines.  Thousands of people have benefited from
clearing their property of geopathic stress and have experienced
improvement in finances, health, and relationships almost immediately.

The Immunization Housecall concentrates on identifying and correcting
the negative earth energies in the home to remedy:

Geopathic Stress Lines are caused by underground streams, Man-made
disturbances to the earth?s surface including quarries and mines; road
and rail cuttings and building foundations, especially tall buildings
with steel pilings; tunnels, sewers, drains, buried utility pipes and
wires; as well as artificially created electromagnetic fields from
overhead or underground cables and electricity-generating stations and
sub-stations.  This negative energy runs through the foundation all
they way to the highest point of the home.

Curry Lines & Hartman Lines run across the earth in grid patterns
carrying the earth?s natural magnetic field that we need to live and
sustain life.  Curry lines are every four to five feet and run
Northeast to Southwest and Southeast to Northwest.   Hartman Grid
Lines are every six to seven feet and run from West to East and South
to North.  When man-made electrical current i.e. an electrical wall
outlet intersects a Curry or Hartman line, they become negative and
harmful to anyone standing or sleeping on that magnetic line.

Negative Vortexes is energy that spins in a counter-clockwise
direction and may possibly drain our natural energy from within us.

Negative Interference Lines ? are abnormal spikes of current created
by TV?s, stereos, computers or other electrical devices.

We also determine if there are any Positive Vortexes, which is a
clock-wise rotation of energy and are excellent areas for healing,
exercising and meditating.

Dowsing rods  is the tool used to identify and locate the negative
energy coming into the home.  Dowsing rods can effectively be used by
an experienced consultant to find water beneath the earth?s surface,
objects, living organisms or natural and man-made energy.  Once the
negative energy is identified, a copper rod, properly placed can
neutralize the offending energy.

Attract Musical Success With Feng Shui! August 20, 2008

Feng Shui for Recording Artists, Musicians and Producers -

Use Your Recording/Music Studio to Spark The ‘American Idol’ Musical Genius Within. Achieve The Success You Want Within The Music Industry!

There are millions of musicians an singers in the world seeking fortune and fame. As a musician there are many valuable principles in feng shui that can aide in building your successful career in the music industry. Your environment, your acquaintances, your observations and opportunities will all contribute to creating the life that you are seeking. Have you ever thought about whether the place where you spend the most of your time is actually helping in growing your musical ambitions?

Many musicians spend hours and days in dark, cold, cluttered recording studios while creating music. These studios often manifest negative, depressing, and fearful energy in those who enter it. Besides the ’bad feng shui’ of the constant exposure to electromagntic forces, many recording studios environmentally ”swallow” and/or smother the artists who use them, rather than support the greatness and talent that they posess.

There is no wonder that many popular songs today manifest a ‘dark’, melancholy feeling.  Have you ever noticed that recording studio photographs from the 1960s or 1970s, were dramatically well lit and “clutter-free”? - as a matter of fact, every instrument and individual in the photographs are quite visible. Compare the pop music of those eras, with the music of today – a distinct difference.

Recording studios used to be designed as inviting, comfortable, and welcoming to musicians. Now, the aesthetic has been shifted to black and chrome - with an inadequate amount of light to even view the room. Imagery and visual textures are usually abrasive and harsh; no foliage of natural elements at all. Poor ventilation plagues recording sessions and a certain level of constant tension is usually present. Why? What does this do for the creation of music itself, other than destroy its nature?

Does your recording studio or practice room support your creativity?. The ideal feng shui creative space is the space that has the best feng shui energy to support your specific activity intended in that space. For example, if you are applying feng shui for your recording studio, then you are looking to evoke as much creative energy as possible. However, if you are writing music or practicing singing alone in a pre-production studio, you are looking for a different energy, the ‘vibe’ must be right for both places

There are times when you may want to listen to relaxing, soothing sounds, and then there are times when loud dance music is the best way to go for you. The feng shui of a creative process – be it singing, writing music, producing somgs, or writing lyrics or melodies – always implies making space for that which is not here yet. In other words, it is like the birth of a baby – highly expected, painful, powerful and chaotic at the same time.

The ideal feng shui planning of a creative/recording space will be able to hold the character of many rhythms, because the creative process has all types of rhythms – the dreaming/planning time and the actual manifestation moment.

Answer these questions:

  1. What is the main energy I want in this space, what specific activity is this space intended for?
  2. What works best for me and how do I need to feel in order to perform well in this space?
For example, my work as a Feng Shui Consultant consists of two main activities – I consult for clients and I write. The creative part of my feng shui work is to constantly come up with new, fresh ideas in applying traditional feng shui for my clients’ spaces; as well as design articles on various modern applications of classical feng shui. I love clean, neutral colors, natural pieces and shapes, and I love bright colors as well. The base palette of my reception areas – the wall colors, the office furnitures, the seating areas are all my most favored colors which create a natural, calming kind of feeling when I am there. I have beautiful, vibrant art with bright colors in some areas, as well as a wall with various inspiring images of my desires, ideas, etc.
My main desk surface has to always be clean; the other, lower desk surfaces usually hold a variety of current materials and projects I am working on. I have a very clear system of storing my files and I keep in view only the current ones. All the tools I need on a daily basis are in close proximity. I love a lot of natural light coming in; I also have many plants. This set-up brings a vibrant energy that helps me replenish my own energy when I take short breaks from work.

I am fine with files, photos, floor plans, notes all over my working space for a couple of hours while I am busy working on a big project; that is inevitable, and actually very helpful while working. However, once I am done with the project or am moving to its next stage, all the materials are filed promptly because I love neatness and order. I cannot work or create in a sterile environment, but I also cannot stand clutter.

Clutter in feng shui is defined as items that you have not used for a long time, and do not actually need. No matter chaotically arranged all over the space, or blocking just one corner – the energy that is created by clutter is blocking the feng shui energy flow, thus draining energy from you.

To attract the best feng shui energy for your recording/music studio apply these basic feng shui tips:

  • Have elements from nature (plants, natural light, rocks from the beach, etc.)
  • Bring strong blocks of color and movement (art, music, small fountain, etc.)
  • Display representation of your successful projects (records, photos with celebrities etc.)
  • Clearly organize all the tools you need (lyrics, computer disks, instruments etc.)
  • Create a clearly defined “no-rules” area. Make it as big or as small as your space allows and let it contain various items you deem necessary with no restrictions. This will be used for samples, tapes, photos, lyric sheets, and any project-related equipment.  The only rule, though, is to revise and clean this area at regular intervals that work for you – be it every week, every day or every month.

In closing, the feng shui of a recording/music space will evoke the same energy that describes your creative process, whether you are a producer, poet, rapper, singer or instrumentalist - the balance between the quiet energy of dreaming/germination and the full bloom of active, strong manifestation. By applying these and other basic guidelines, you will reinforce the feng shui flow of creative energy and create a space to support, as well as promote, your creative ambitions

What Is Feng Shui? August 19, 2008

By: Dr. Renee Parks

For thousands of years, the Chinese have used the teachings of Feng Shui (pronounced “fung shway”) to enhance their lives.  Feng Shui in Chinese means Wind (Feng) and Water (Shui).  The ancient Chinese believed that invisible life energy (called chi) flowed through everything in life.  They also believed that the buildings we live in require as much attention as our bodies and so developed this highly complex science for “healing” the environment.

Feng Shui is a design system for arranging your surroundings through the appropriate placement of the objects around you in regard to shape, color, size and texture.  Centuries of observation showed that different areas of the house and different parts of each room attracted specific energies.  Furthermore, they discovered that certain configurations (the layout of rooms or even the position of furniture) could either help or hinder the free, smooth flowing energy.  If the energy was blocked or allowed to flow too swiftly it would cause corresponding blockages and problems in life.

Symbols and patterns are the ways your psyche subconsciously interprets and relates to your environment.  The primary level of symbolism in Feng Shui is the relationship between you and your living environment.  Symbolically speaking, your home (it’s structure, shape and condition) represents and reflects you, your body, your mind and spirit on various levels.  Patterns corresponds your living environment with the ongoing events in your life.  When you can spot these patterns, you enter into a conscious, effective relationship with your environment.  This awareness allows you to take concrete actions and create positive changes in any part of life you desire.

There are many factors that are influencing you to one degree or another: your front door, prior residents, clutter, location of bathrooms, the position of your bed or desk and colors.  Ultimately, changing the Feng Shui of your environment creates new options and choices.  Feng Shui can create a whole realm of possibilities that you never considered or didn’t believe possible.  By applying easy Feng shui principles, you can reverse negative patterns and strengthen positive ones to maximize your chances of success.

Feng Shui can help you improve your environment easily, directly and powerfully. When you put Feng Shui into action, prepare for changes!  Some life shifts may be dramatic and sudden, while others may be subtle and gradual.  The key is to be open to new things and ideas.  The people who get the best results from Feng Shui proceed with an open mind, a positive outlook, and a clear intention.

Action without knowledge is no recipe for success.  Feng Shui is not merely furniture juggling or random interior decorating.  Feng Shui combines aesthetics with time-tested energetic principles.  When remedies are applied correctly, your life can become easier and happier in essential areas including relationships, career, wealth and family.  A certified Feng Shui practitioner can provide a personalized treatment plan to address your individual life circumstances.  You will be amazed at how many life obstacles can be cleared with simple energy shifts you can perform in your home or office.

The “Doctor Of Feng Shui” Pleased with USA Today Feature August 19, 2008

Dr. Renee Parks, also known as “The Doctor of Feng Shui” remarked recently on a video in USA Today.com. The site posted a video of a “mock consultation” done by a Feng Shui Consultant Taylor Vance for the DC offices of Senator Barack Obama and Senator John McCain. “Its good to see that the quality of spacial energy may be addressed by the Obama administration. Obama’s office must be properly treated in order to support his success as President. McCain has created such hostility during these elections, we must undo the energetic damage that has been done” noted Parks from her lakefront studio in Baltimore. “John McCain definately needs a Feng Shui Consultation for his office, clutter and nick-nacks support outdated, wilting energy.” Parks added.

As a Feng Shui consultant and columnist, Parks has built a following in the new-age community and is noted for her authoritative and charismatic reputation. She has also built an extensive network of alternative health practioners and medical providers by use of her unique specialty, Holistic Spatial Therapy. Next year Parks is set to stun the world of Metaphysics and Alternative Medicine as Presenter for the University of Sedona’s doctoral ceremony and installation. Parks is preparing a “worldwide analysis of healthcare and globalization from multi-energetic perspectives” she noted. “Feng Shui explains why we are where we are in the world, based on ancient common-sense. Certainly this upcoming presentation would be beneficial to leaders involved with national and global agendas.”

Although Parks’ Publicist from Wilkins-Barbera Public Relations provided no comment, a warmth has been felt in light of Parks’ response. “Its a small community, and Renee has a big name on the east coast” commented Marilyn Conlin, a Feng Shui Consultant from Catonsville, MD. “When Renee Parks puts something out there, the new-age community takes note of it” Conlin remarked.

Handling Summertime Stress, Tips For Career Women August 19, 2008

Handling Summertime Stress,
Tips For Career Women

Summer is usually a time of relaxation for children and families, but for many career women, a vacation is a luxury that is simply not affordable or possible. Between managing high-level positions and attempting to solidify the family unit, many women grapple with unique and stressful summers.

“Every woman must be certain to maintain her health and wellness, even though we are ‘expected’ to rise to every occasion, and often without help” says Doctor Renee Parks, a Feng Shui and Holistic Health Practitioner in Baltimore.”I am very conscious of my mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing during this time of year - because women can be prone to exhaustion. The days may be longer, but we must realize that our mission is not to wear ourselves thin – but to rejuvenate and pamper ourselves whenever we can. We must also support a culture of simplicity within our homes and ourselves, this is what I assist my clients in accomplishing” she says.

BEING THE SUPERMOM
Just because the summertime allows the children a vacation from school, many women are still bound to the “pick-up”, “drop-off”, activities and childcare routines that are the necessary evils of ’mom-hood’. Doctor Renee suggests that working moms seek neighborhood carpools and more localized and inexpensive group activities for children. “I know moms who drive 50 miles roundtrip to take their children to dance class. How does your pocketbook respond? How does the strain from burnout and exhaustion reflect in the interactions with your children?.”

Align with 2-3 moms in the area that you know personally or by referral from a good friend, and work with them in order to create weekly group outings for your children to cultural arts events in the area!. Find out if a group “childcare carpool” can be arranged if your children are very small. Research a list of state points of interest while you are at work, and free cultural centers that children would enjoy. These could be more fun for the kids than the regular ‘pizza and a Redbox DVD’ routine. You will not only save time, energy, and money, but you will enrich and expand the minds of your children for years to come.

DEALING WITH THE HEATWAVE
Heat and humidity are what summer is all about. However, these two things are something that pre or post menopausal career women cannot stand for very long. Doctor Renee suggests that clothing, diet and alternative uses in cosmetics may alleviate your body’s response to heat and humidity. “Firstly, the skin must be as clear as possible, unless you are attending or hosting an elegant function, where makeup may be needed. Your understanding of the foods you eat also will correspond to the way that your body will feel and respond in heat, and all the running all around. I tend to lean to a lighter palette of neutral colors that are not absorbent.”

Lip gloss and possibly a bit of waterproof mascara are what Diva Renee suggests for daytime, so that women will have the opportunity (and pleasure) to splash the face with fresh water several times during the day. This will also support clean and healthy skin – beautiful for any season. Hair that is pinned back from the face will make you feel cooler, and accentuate the grace of your neck and shoulders. Less hairspray, but more natural and light oils may also be beneficial in terms of hair. Choose a cute, sophisticated, or vintage set of hair pins to aide in the creation of a new ”updo” for summer.

In terms of clothing, go for lighter and more neutral colors, with delicate fabrics that do not absorb moisture too visibly. Avoid.silk, silk-blends, iridescents, or heavy fabrics. “If you choose a gypsy skirt, be certain to match it with a more form-fitting top, to give the body shape. Don’t go for ‘baggy’ all over, this is not good Feng Shui, nor acceptable in terms of fashion.”

Food is a ‘hot topic’ in terms of staying cool, because the body uses different amounts of energy to digest each type. “The proverbial light lunch can be satisfying, with a good balance. Stay away from carbs and starches, unless you want to be sleepy by 3pm. Vending machines offer poor choices – they are mostly incredibly salty or incredibly full of carbs.”, Doctor Renee advises. ”Spicy foods (with cayenne) are only good for morning, but in the afternoon you risk ‘heatflashes’, and at night you risk acid reflux. Cayenne also causes the body to produce heat internally. I would caution a career woman in selecting these for her ‘at work’ meal.”

ON THE HOMEFRONT
Central air conditioning may cool the home, but clutter and disorder will certainly bring your blood-pressure to a boiling point! Many career women are overwhelmed, and lose sight of the conditions of their homes during the summer. While this is happening, usually the home is full of ‘little people’ who are full of energy. If you have youths or teenagers home alone during the summer, you certainly have help – but you must learn to negotiate and set guidelines for their ’coveted assistance’ in getting your home back!

“Call a family emergency meeting where you lay out the plan,” says Doctor Renee. “Each day, there should be one to three chores or goals for each child to accomplish. The ”chore / goal list” should also be detailed and recorded each day by the child on a checklist in the kitchen or family area. Its amazing how we are held so accountable on our jobs, but we do not hold our children accountable for the conditions of our homes, especially when they are the ones who live there for free.” she says.

Dishes, garbage, laundry, folding, pets, and the cleaning of their rooms and common spaces are all things that children can complete easily in about one hour a day. When arriving home, call the children together so that you may inspect each area and praise them for their good work. One way to admonish ‘the rebel’ of the family would be to REMOVE priviledges or activities for them until their chores are completed for 3 days straight. The ”chore / goal list” will help you to remember what was completed on a certain day. It will also prevent the “favoritism” claim that many children use when it comes to their soft-hearted parents.

Consistent Healing: Advice For Metaphysical and Alternative Health Practitioners August 18, 2008

By: Dr. Renee Parks

Seeking the spiritual center of our existence is a multi-faceted pursuit.  Reiki, Acupuncture, Yoga and similar energetic healing modalities all support our quest to be aligned with Universal energy.  We each utilize very diverse energetic principles to tune our inner and higher selves but we often neglect the various environments that surround and unavoidably impact our physical being.  As a Feng Shui Practitioner, my craft primarily is oriented towards energetically supporting and augmenting attunement work.

Have you ever wondered why one client benefits more than others from identical treatments?  You may also ask  “How can I better support  holistic health benefits for my clients?”.  Our bodies must be at peace with our physical surroundings.  To combine the outer need for harmony with our inner world, I have developed a technique that I refer to as Holistic Spatial Therapy.  Here are several ways for your client?s to leave your treatment center energized and attain sustainable results each and every time.

As experienced practitioners you are probably aware that your treatment space can alter you and your client?s energy in positive or negative ways. This fact can be observed on an atomic level, and observed clearly by others who are trained in energetic consciousness. As each client enters the treatment space, their energy is deposited into the space and may be residue in you and in the treatment area at the conclusion of the session.  I recommend that you allow time between each session to clean the slate by physically cleansing the space in whatever way feels complete to you.

Next, take a good look at your treatment room.  Is the energy flowing in a way that supports the healing work?  Is your treatment table or chair aligned with a door or window, which could make the energy a little unstable during the session?  Are the furnishings in the area well-balanced and energetically aligned with Yin & Yang and the Five Elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water?  Our physical makeup includes a combination of these forces to one degree or another.  If your space has an imbalance, it could make your work harder and less effective.

Finally, the space where your client resides should also support their soul’s quest for inner peace.  If the energy in their space is moving too fast or is negative, they may return for healing even more energetically drained than before.  Consider providing your clients with tips that will help them achieve more balance in their surrounding in especially the bedroom since this is where they spend the most time.  One fundamental health tip is to ensure that their space is free from clutter.  If there are any items that they no longer resonate with or brings on a negative frame of mind they should release it.  Another good piece of advice is to fix any broken items in the home.

In addition, to having a more harmonious, flourishing and effective practice, following these simple tips will significantly shift the results of your healing work.  The result is a more fulfilled and loyal client who will gladly refer to you others because their wellness is your priority.
